Start with a lounge or sofa collection if you're furnishing from scratch or replacing what you have; buying a coordinated set is far easier than assembling one piece by piece, and outdoor weaves are unforgiving when they don't match. 

Add sun loungers or a daybed if you have sun worth chasing, chairs and footstools to flex the seating when people arrive, and a fire table to make the whole thing work after dark.

The one thing worth planning first. Decide where people will look. Outdoor seating arranged against a wall facing the house rarely gets used; the same furniture turned towards a view, a fire or planting does. Site the arrangement around the focal point, then choose the furniture to fit it.
